The Location

Ewell Castle School is made up of a number of buildings around what used to be Ewell Castle Mansion, a gothic-style castellated mansion with battlements and grand arched windows built in 1814. Working with the main contractor and the project’s quantity surveyor, who had been tasked with reconfiguring the interior of a whole wing of the main school building, we were asked to complete a particularly tricky order.

The Order

The most demanding element of our work on this project was the rapid supply of a particular timber sash window.

As part of the remodelling of the guts of the building, a door needed to be removed and replaced with a window. However, as the building is Class II listed, it was imperative that the replacement window matched the others along that side of the building as exactly as possible.

We conducted a site survey, created the specifications from which to template the window then, because time was running short before the project needed to be finished, we put through a rapid order with our factory.

Due to the bespoke nature of our windows and doors and the drying time of the weather-durable paints we use, 3 to 4 weeks is considered a rapid order.

This window was manufactured in Nordic Pine with an Oak sill, painted inside and out in white to match the others in the building, finished with sash horns and Brighton sash fasteners, and supplied on schedule as promised so the project could progress as planned.
